SOMERSET - A strange discovery was made in Lake Cumberland yesterday, sending shockwaves throughout the community.
A reptilian creature was pulled out of the lake by a local man who wishes to remain anonymous. The creature, which is estimated to weigh over 300 pounds, is believed to be a prehistoric hybrid of a turtle and an octopus. The beast was removed from the creek and taken to the Pulaski County Humane Society for further evaluation.
"Fishtrap Lake is known for its diverse aquatic life," says Dr. Jane Sizemore, professor of marine biology at the prestigious Jabez Community College. "This type of amphibian was very prevalent here millions of years ago," adds the professor. "Sadly, its population has dwindled over the years because of urban sprawl in the area, especially along the lake's coastline."
After it is examined, the creature is expected to be released back into Lake Cumberland. "This way it can live out the rest of its days in peace," adds Dr. Sizemore. "Hopefully it won't eat any tourists."
This is a developing story.
