For serious collectors: there is one board like this in the world. It was born in Atlantis. There will never be another.
The Kehalafl Turtle Island board is a documented one-of-one collaboration between designer Kehalafl of Atlantis, Florida and Nomad Surf Shop. It is a fully functional, rideable surfboard — not a display prop, not a reproduction — carrying a story that runs 110 million years deep.
The design is rooted in the Turtle Island creation mythology of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) and Lenape peoples. In this living cosmology, the great turtle rose from the primordial ocean and offered its back as the foundation of the Earth. Turtle Island remains the Indigenous name for North America today. This board renders that story in full: the turtle rising from churning seas, the globe on its ancient shell, the Americas visible on its face.
Its charitable provenance is equally rare. Raffled to fund a warming incubator for the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. That incubator gradually raises the body temperature of cold-stunned sea turtles rescued from North Carolina’s coastlines, giving them a medically controlled path back to survival. The turtle on this board. The turtle in that incubator. The same ancient creature.
In the collector world, dual provenance — named designer, named shaper — is the gold standard. This board has documented cultural narrative, strong visual identity, conservation mission, and absolute scarcity. One board. One story. No reproductions. Ever.
