The first step in the huipil weaving process includes the creation of the 100% cotton threads. The cotton fibers are dyed using pigments from native plants, bark, vegetables, fruit, and flowers, coconut shells, achiote, and avocado trees. These fibers are moistened in water to allow a deeper pigmentation, while the plants are boiled. Weavers dip and strain the fibers until they are rich in color, and then dry them in the sun.

✔️Each artisan is paid fair wages and ensured a safe working environment. We are intentionally thoughtful in every step of bringing these bags to our customers.

✔️10% of all bag proceeds go back to the communities in Guatemala who we source the bags from.
