Our Story:
Birch Bright Designs was created in memory of my grandpa. I remember sitting on a stool in his workshop with an ice cream cone and safety glasses while he cut designs that my sister and I requested on the spot. He was reserved and quiet, much like my father, yet one of the most patient people I have ever met. He never seemed to mind our presence in his workspace. Some of my most vivid
childhood memories are of him, sticky fingers, and the smell of freshly cut pine. My daughter was born in 2012 and when I was ready to transition her out of a crib, my husband lost his job. We didn't have the money for the high-end Pottery Barn furnishings that I adored, we didn't have the money for much of anything. After several nights of research (thank you, Pinterest!) I discovered plans to make my own platform bed and went to work over Christmas break (I was a teacher then). Six years later and it's held up to two kids and lots of jumping on the bed! I discovered no limits when it came to wood and power tools. I created a sand/water table, a book nook, shelving, teacher gifts, raised garden beds, Christmas presents, and more! I was able to give my grandpa a custom item before he passed away and proudly held my own in a technical conversation about tool selection and design composition! What began as a way to furnish my home in a most cost-effective manner turned into a creative outlet and becoming the person my friends and family seek out when they have ideas or want to give handmade gifts of their own. My biggest mission when establishing Birch Bright Designs was to create similar high-quality furniture and decor that you can find in stores, customizable, for much less of a cost. I pride this business on quality, attention to detail, and rustic appeal. I'd love to branch out eventually into education and personally teach other women to use power tools to create and furnish their homes. The options are endless and that's what keeps me here; serving you and making quality, handmade designs is still our mission today οΏ½
