I recently tailored a suit jacket for a previous student (free of charge). He thrifted this suit inexpensively to save money to wear to prom. It’s good to see a young person being thrifty with their money. We decided to take up the sleeves and bottom of the jacket by about 2 inches. It looks a million times better and now he’s ready to go! 😎👌🏻

An early 18th century waistcoat made for Mr. Hackney by my hand, patterned from a beloved waistcoat that he already had.

For this project, we went with an outer wool in the Culloden tartan (circa 1746), lined with a complementary sage green linen, two functional exterior pockets, edge stitching on all edges to make it crisp, reinforced tacks in the back and side slits, button holes made using green silk twist, and matching tartan covered buttons. Inner seams are machine sewn for durability and all visible stitching done by hand for historical authenticity. ✂️🧵🪡👌🏻

A custom 18th century waistcoat is scheduled to be completed this week so that it can be worn this coming weekend.

This is its current status.

It is entirely hand finished so all the stitching that will seen is historically accurate to the period, inner seams are machine sewn for time and durability.

Need your clothes shortened a bit so that they fit you just right? 🤔 That’s no problem!

Here’s a shirt that needed the sleeves and bottom taken up and a pair of jeans that needed to be shortened by 2 inches for a young man. These should fit him perfectly once he tries them back on. 👌🏻
