While I love dressing boho chic, there are times where I just want something comfortable like a cute shirt and a pair of capris or a jersey t-shirt dress. When I look for clothes I try to get pieces that can go from one style to another for versatility. So when I pulled out my spring and summer attire I realized that last year I had cleared out a lot of things that where just too big for me and that left a hole in my staples like capris, shorts and summer tops.
Last week I hit up my favorite local thrift stores with a list in-hand of what I needed and did a pretty good job of sticking to it.

My budget was $60 and I spent $75 but I came home with 16 pieces, several still with tags, others clearly had never been worn but had tags removed. Out of those 16 pieces I was able to put together 18 different outfits using only what I had purchased. Yet knowing I already had several at home that would also coordinate with my new pieces.

The key to having a successful shopping trip is to go shopping with a plan, a list, time and patience. It takes time to go through racks at the thrift store. Also, since many thrift stores no longer have dressing rooms I take a simple sewing tape measure and know my measurements.

A lot of my market customers always tell me that they don’t have the time, the patience or the vision to,see how to use a piece or create an outfit. At my markets I like to put together pieces to create the look and the outfit.

This weekend my color was purple so all,of my mannequins wore purple themed outfits. While I may not sell the entire outfit people will buy a particular piece to go with something they already have that looks similar to what was in the displayed outfit. For instance I had this gorgeous dress paired with a purple cardigan and the dress was purchased because the buyer had a purple cardigan at home.

Thanks to everyone who visited us at 7 Mile House Market.
Unfortunately we had to close the booth down early today after it was taken out by a rouge gust of wind. But we will be back at the market in June A new pop up ten , some clothes racks, double the amount of sandbags and we should be good. A lot of clothes to wash and jewlery to repair but wouldn’t miss the market for anything. See you in June.

Fashion shouldn’t be complicated. It should not leave us frustrated every morning, walking away from a pile of clothes that you just spent 45 minutes trying yet nothing felt right. All you wanted was to run errands wearing something comfy, stylish and put together without spending a ton of time doing so.

Some days you want to go out all dolled up, and others you really just want that comfy loose jean or pullon lightweight pants, a tee or tank but when you are focused on just wanting to get dressed and be on your way, not knowing what to wear can be stressful.

One thing I like to do is to just spend a couple hours in my closet making outfits and trying them on. While something can look great on hangers in the closet, it’s not always that way when you put them on. I also always have my go-to-I-know-work outfits that I can grab when all else fails.

When it comes to the boho style there are so many different paths you can go down but when it comes down to it, it’s really all about wearing pieces that are comfortable, make you feel and look good but don’t take a lot of effort to put together. You can mix patterns and prints,fabric weights and colors.

Tomorrow is our vendor market at 7 Mile House on Hwy 20 just outside of Hallwood.

While I was getting ready to load up the truck I figured why not pull together some quick outfits to share. All pieces are freshly acquired and ready for spring.

At our last market I had customers ask for some smaller sizes and I herd you. Not only did I find some great smaller sizes and more tops but found a couple great outfits for my plus-size ladies.

This time of year is so transitional with the weather as we have seen the area go from the high 50’s with rain and wind to the upper 80’s and back down to rain and high 60’s. But with a beautiful Easter Sunday in two days I decided to pull together some outfits that can transition you from the cooler mornings to the warm temps mid day.

With clothes coming from so many manufacturers and countries, sizes are not always what they appear. While the following outfits may have a different size on the tag than what I have them listed at, I have done my best through measurements to classify thier true size.

1. Medium: ankle length cotton pullon pants $10 and a knit sweater tank $12

2. Small to Medium: linen pants $10, cotton vest $8, Sheer tank blouse $10

4. Large: Gap navy pullon pants $10 and sheer paisley print blouse with bell sleeves $12. Add a tank or bralette for a spring layered look.

6. Xlg: Gap ankle length pullon pants $10 and a sheer oversized navy and pink floral print top $10. The top is listed as a 2x but can be worn as an oversized coverup.
