5:20 PM, June 24, 1978. My 🍒 red impala pulls into the driveway and I just can't seem to get in the front door fast enough. I take off my shoes and nestle my feet into the s**g carpet we put in last week, I flick the radio on, Andy Gibbs Shadow Dancing is playing..... ahhhhh maybe just a few minutes of shaking it before I start dinner. June 12, 1972, 9:15 pm. The private aircraft lands on the newly paved road between La Paz and San Jose Del Cabo. It would be a decade before an international airport exists. Last summer the rough and dusty roads challenged you, but this was easy in comparison. The sea of Cortez awaits, but first, a small walk to the Palm fringed hotel . Generators power down every night around nine: there are only the moon and the stars, and the silence of the desert.
