Road Trip Ma###ing 🚗 💨 🎣

When my coworkers told me they’d always wanted to try fly fishing—and one of them had never been fishing at all—I knew we had to make the trip to see Marshall Smith Feathers to Fish

Marshall is hands down one of the best and most fun fly fishing guides you can spend a day with. His knowledge, patience, and ability to teach from start to finish are second to none. That’s especially important for people who are completely new to fly fishing, or even fishing in general.

Yesterday, Marshall helped create memories we’ll never forget. Watching Hector and Mara catch on, build confidence, and experience the excitement of fly fishing reminded me why I love introducing people to this sport. Their first fishing experience wasn’t just about catching fish—it was about making memories, learning something new, and seeing a side of fishing that most people never get to experience on their first trip.

Thanks again, Marshall, for another unforgettable day on the water.

I’m continuing to learn, grow, and put in as much work as possible. This past month has been a grind—heartbreaks, rough weather, long boat rides, and odds that never seemed to be in our favor. But that’s all part of the process.

This trip finally brought a little redemption, and I was able to stick this beautiful yellowtail. The conditions weren’t ideal, but I made the most of every opportunity and had an incredible time aboard the Pacific Queen Sportfishing . Huge thanks to the captain and crew—they were outstanding from start to finish, always willing to share their knowledge, answer questions, and help anyone who wanted to learn.

Every trip is another lesson, and I’m stoked to keep learning.

Lately, I’ve been focused on one thing: Fish-maxing.

This year has reminded me how much I love being on the water. I’ve been fishing harder than I have in years, reconnecting with the things that give me purpose and bring me joy. My love with documenting those moments continues to grow.

These frames were shot a few weeks ago aboard the Native Sun Sportfishing with my Minolta film camera. I’m finding myself more drawn to black-and-white film every time I shoot—it has a way of making the ordinary feel timeless.
