Just picked up this really large antique bulb on the left next to a smaller more common flame bulb on the right. Big one is 1” taller than an average F15 bulbs! Not including the E26 base it’s 4” tall and 2.5” wide. Perfect for big floor lamps with candles. Once we’re done with the cubist and Mazda flame bulbs we’ll be offering these….

Put the finishing touches on this beautiful Spanish Revival writing desk and ready to find a new home. We believe it dates from the 1910s or 1920s. The original finish was peeling and the whole thing was really filthy so we stripped and stained it with an oil finish. No, those are not the hinges! This has plain unremarkable hidden hinges. They are pure decoration pressed in a mold, probably “composition” made from sawdust and glue. All parts carefully cleaned and replaced. Ready for letter writing or just organizing your bills.

First samples are here! First photo is the original bulb on the right next to our reproduction. Second, Two of ours next to two modern flame bulbs. So much more detail in ours! Last, two examples of our cubist flame bulb, no doubt inspired by Ruba Rhombic bulb, after Ruben Haley’s line of glassware Consolidated Glass produced in the 1930s.

Sometimes it’s amazing what you find when you take apart a fixture. Here, we thought we had a nickel fixture with hundreds of glass straws in awful condition. The green is perhaps, algae?? Really not sure what the green is as it’s not corroded brass. Took off the center casting to discover the original finish underneath—real silver! Not exposed to air for over a century preserved the silver finish beautifully. Now to attack the dozens of parts needing cleaning (2 chandeliers and four wall sconces). Before we’re done there are hundreds of glass pieces needing to be cleaned and re-pinned.
