I was wearing my grandpa’s sweater in Malibu when I understood what I was actually making.

From the beginning, the vision was bigger than the knit. Papàsweater is about the guy who crashes in the back of a van between sessions. The older woman who pulls something on and sighs. The 8-year-old who doesn’t know why it fits but knows that it does.

It’s the in-between moments. The salt still in your hair. The sun going down over the water. The feeling of being exactly where you’re supposed to be, wearing exactly what you’re supposed to wear.

While the name didn’t come to mind immediately, it became clear as day the moment I found a letter from my nana that read “snug as a bug in a rug.” Papàsweater is a warm hug you can give yourself and the people around you. Something that makes strangers feel like family and family feel like home 🫂
