A lovable hammerhead shark for Grammy's little Valentine 💙 I used the hammerhead shark sewing pattern from Fostering Sewing... just like her others, a fabulous pattern! I took a dive into my stash for this cotton fabric, and it's filled with polyester fiberfill. I have two more sharks in different fabrics just waiting to be sewn up and to have mouths sewn on. Have a great day, friends! 🦈✌️

This fun amphibian, called an axolotl, is another Christmas make. The pattern is again from Funky Friends Factory with a couple modifications... I created my own gills and changed the assembly of the fins. Like the iguana, this pattern is great! It has nice details and dimension to the finished item. I used some vintage, hand embroidered table linens for the fabric, and some lightweight silk on the gills and fins as a nod to the translucence of those features on the actual animal. Happy holidays, friends! ✌️

Santa's elf was busy this year sewing stuffed animals for loved ones... this iguana was SO fun to make! The amazing pattern is from Funky Friends Factory, and that cool fabric is an upcycle of some drapes I bought at the thrift store. Enjoy the holidays, my friends! ✌️

The sewing dry spell ended this week, and this odd little character came into existence. Created with assorted thrift store finds and scraps from other sewing projects. Have a great day, folks! Enjoy the ride ✌️

I'm on a sewing binge... next project has been cut out and is taking shape. Vogue 1747 in a cotton sateen I scored at a local thrift store some years back.

Thank you for all the positive response to the reversible dresses I made for our granddaughter a while back. :) I had some interest from folks regarding purchasing one, so I made some more. I had such fun finishing these four dresses this past week. They are 100% cotton and $20 each. I can ship in the U.S. using a USPS flat rate envelope which is $10. Contact me if you are interested. Thanks for looking! Have a great day 🙂✌️

My most recent make: Vogue 9112. I made this for a refashion/repurpose challenge. I used a couple Hawaiian shirts, an old favorite dress, a duvet, and a tablecloth featuring images of flora and fauna from New Zealand. It was such a fun project, and I know it will get a lot of wear. This pattern has 12 pieces and is a bit of a puzzle to put together with many curves and some gathers. I still think it is pretty easy to put together, though. My only criticism is that the pattern calls for a bias finish on the neck and armholes and not a facing finish. I made facing pieces and applied interfacing to them before sewing them in. This gave a cleaner finish, but also ended up helping the collar to stand up similar to how it is pictured on the model. When I tried the bias finish, the collar was quite droopy.

I don't have enough sewing projects started already (🤣), but I got inspired by a repurpose/refashion challenge in one of my sewing groups. This is the pattern and the fabric assortment I came up with for my project. The pattern lends itself well to combining prints since it has many pieces. I will be using a couple Hawaiian print shirts, a dress that I LOVED, a duvet from Pottery Barn, and a tablecloth that features flora and fauna of New Zealand.

I was waiting to post these photos as the dresses were a Valentine's Day gift for our granddaughter in Texas. I used the "Petal Wrap Dress" pattern by Twig and Tale Patterns. The pattern is free and very easy. The large cat print is from an upcycled set of Ikea curtains that I scored at the thrift store. The patchwork print was gifted to me by a fellow sewing enthusiast, and the other fabrics have been in my stash for a while... can't remember where I got them. Here's the link to the pattern https://www.twigandtale.com/collections/baby-dresses/products/petal-wrap-dress-tunic

There's a new sheriff in town! I've been waiting to post this fun Grinning Gator until he arrived at his new home with our granddaughter in Texas. I made the gator using a pattern by Lindsey Foster of Fostering Sewing Patterns... excellent pattern! The main fabric is from some upcycled drapes I found at the Goodwill, and many of the other materials I had on hand. This was a super fun project! Have a great day folks! ✌️🤠🐊
