Memorial Day was never meant to be just a long weekend.
It was meant to stop us.
To make us pause long enough to remember that freedom has always been paid for by someone else’s sacrifice.
Behind every American flag is a story.
A son.
A daughter.
A husband.
A wife.
A best friend.
Someone deeply loved.
Someone who should still be here.
So while the grills are lit, the lake bags are packed, and the skies fill with fireworks, may we never become so comfortable in freedom that we forget the ones who never came home to enjoy it.
This Memorial Day, may we honor them not just with words, but with remembrance worthy of what they gave.
