A lot of my process is taking texture photos and manipulating them into something interesting. This one was a table surface, which I then ran through color mapping and halftones. I added a public domain photo of an eye duplicated and painted in some depth. Added more texture photo layers on top of that which I ran through a threshold filter, and came up with something I liked. I used to do all this with but I use Krita these days because it isn't run by a bunch of money hungry maniacs.
