A few points I’d like to stress as bridal/prom season is in full gear:
1) Reality tv shows are not a lesson in how to behave.
2) You do NOT have to use any in-shop tailor at a bridal shop. Frankly, good luck finding a shop that has one. Take your gown to someone you trust or ask for recommendations.
3) The goal is first in, first out. HOWEVER, peak season brings the calendar into play, and it becomes a by wear date issue. While it may get close to game time, I have never had anyone go down the aisle naked.
4) It may be your first wedding and you want everything just right. As it should be. Keep in mind that you have one dress to worry about, your tailor will have dozens over the course of a month. (There is a reason for that👇🏻…)
5) Not going to say I know everything, but my repeat clients over the last 30 years (communion, prom, moms, bridal) speaks volumes. When you bring something to any professional it is expected they know what end is up for their particular business. You should trust that. There are things that can and cannot be done, and you should be enlightened accordingly.
6) Design changes to gowns are costly. Again, some things can and cannot be done. Your best bet for these is to have the bridal company make the changes to the gown when constructed if possible.
7) If you have questions, concerns, requests, the best time to do that is at the first fitting, or better yet, give a heads up when you call for the appointment.
