Stellula Designs

Stellula Designs Stellula Designs started in April of 2016 as my darling husband pushed me into doing what I love for a living.

I jumped ship at my day job to open my own business doing Wedding and Formal gown alterations. The success of the business has led me to be able to design in my free time and meet and be involved with some wonderful people in the wedding and art community here in Boise! With the growth of my involvement in fashion events and photoshoots I have decided to separate my design from my alterations port

folio. Here, you can just follow my design work and see the beautiful photos and follow the progress of my designs. I am always happy to collaborate with other artists for the mutual benefit of being able to show the world our passion!

When your bride wants to add brightly colored lace to her mother's dress, but wants to keep the original lace. Of course we can do that! We hand colored her mom's original lace in the color palette of the wedding to create a bright punch of fun to the revamped gown!

It has been literal years since I've completed a design just from my own brain. I've made plenty directed by clients, but being creative by myself has been awhile.
Since I'm easing back into working again with a newly refurbished hand, I'm giving designing a go again! Hopefully I'm able to get a small collection made to show you all what I can do!

Little known fact...these days it's often less difficult for me to make an entire gown from scratch than to alter some of these premade factory made gowns. Especially if sizing is way off or the client wants to change anything. Why spend over a thousand in alterations when we could just build your dress from the beginning!

We WON'T, however, copy designs from stores or the internet. We are not a knockoff studio. We can take inspiration from something, but if your dream dress already exists, we aren't here to make it "cheaper". 😊

Haley brought in the train from her mother's wedding gown and I used it to create this cute little slip dress for her welcome party!
I love this trend of using a family gown to create a fun dress for another part of your wedding! Welcome parties, Bachelorette parties, bridal showers, receptions, or going away dress!

I need to share something personal that’s been in the works.
It has been 10+ years of working (honestly, overworking) in this field and the last year or so has come with some pretty significant life changes. After some hard deliberation I’ve come to the hard decision to have a necessary surgery on my dominant hand, and thus take a step back from altering wedding gowns for a bit.

This past year especially has made me realize how much I’ve been pouring from an empty cup. The long hours, the physical demands, the emotional energy...it’s all added up. My body and mind are both asking for rest, and I’m finally listening.

This work has been a huge part of my life for over a decade. I’ve met the most amazing people and have been lucky enough to be part of so many special wedding journeys. I’m incredibly grateful. Right now though, I need to hit pause, focus on my health, and give myself space to rest and reset.

If you’ve messaged me recently and haven’t heard back, please know it’s not personal...I’ve just been navigating a lot behind the scenes. I appreciate your patience and understanding more than I can say.

(I'm not canceling on any current clients. No worries!)

Thank you for being part of this journey. I’m not sure what this business will look like in the future, just that I need to be kinder to myself. 💛
With love,
Heather

One of my previous brides that I helped with redesigning her gown is now in the running for America's Favorite Couple! Alissa is a powerhouse lady who's overcome crazy medical obstacles and dedicated so much of her time to charities for women and foster kids! Her and Zack are some of the nicest people I've ever met.
