Don’t forget about the Dads going through infertility, IVF, or loss. Jake’s heart broke just as much as mine did during our miscarriage, and I’ll forever be grateful for the friends who remembered to check in on him, too 🥺

I honestly don’t know where we’d be without our favorite guy. The way Jake loves our son and shows up for our family turned our darkest moments into something we could actually survive. He’s the softest place to land and the steadiest hand to hold.

If you know someone walking through infertility or loss right now, make sure to check on Dad, too. 🫶🏼

Last night was supposed to look so different.

Months ago when we bought these tickets, Jake and I schemed excitedly at how we would tell our best friends our happy news at this concert.

Then life did what it does, and everything shifted.

Honestly, I was nervous to show up last night. I was scared I’d be “too sad”, scared that I’d cry through the entire set, or that I would make our friends feel like they had to walk on eggshells around me.

But I’m so glad I didn’t let my sadness stop me. It was the best night with our best friends and it truly felt like therapy to the soul. Just what the doctor ordered ❤️‍🩹

Please bear with me for a little bit while I work through these raw emotions & cry into my phone screen 😔

We lost our baby at 10 weeks after seeing their heartbeat at two different scans. The chances of that happening are statistically only about 2%. Then having a D&C that was unsuccessful due to retained tissue is only about a 4% chance. And somehow, both of those statistics are now our reality to keep.

As we pulled into the surgery center for the second time in under 3 weeks, we noticed the craziest thing. The whole sky was blue with white fluffy clouds, except for one dark gray rain cloud sitting directly above the building we were about to enter. I filmed it because I couldn’t believe how perfectly it captured the storm cloud we’ve been carrying 🌧️

While sharing our journey in real time has been really difficult, it’s also brought comfort. Just like when I shared about IVF, so many of you have written to me about your own MC stories. Those shared story and vulnerable moments have given us so much hope for brighter days ahead ❤️‍🩹

Another vulnerable and raw post but these are my personal pain points from the past couple weeks dealing with and learning from our 10-week Missed Miscarriage. The hurt doesn’t stop at the news of “no heartbeat” and I think that’s the biggest thing I want friends and family to know when dealing with someone who has recently miscarried. It’s usually several months before they’re physically healed and truly an unknown amount of time until they’re emotionally healed. I hope this can make you feel less alone if you have or are walking this path with me.

Celebrated 4 years married at the “Great Minnesota Get-Together” yesterday 🎡🌭🎟️ Here’s what all we ate & our rankings to go along with it! We tried lots of new goodies this year but our 15 month old kept us honest for when it was time to head home 😂

4 years married today! ✨ From running businesses side-by-side, to flying across the world to say “I do” in a foreign country, to the chaotic magic of raising our boy- we’ve built a life I could only dream of! But true love isn’t just tested in the sunshine—it’s forged in the dark.

The hardest day we’ve ever faced together was August 14th of this year, our 12-year dating anniversary. We found ourselves in a hospital room for a D&C surgery after losing our baby at 10 weeks. And in contrast, the best day we’ve ever had together was exactly two years ago from today, on our 2nd wedding anniversary. We found ourselves in a clinic room waiting for our very first embryo transfer that led us our son.

You can’t schedule timing like that or plan how it all aligns, but to me, having those two massive moments land on our exact anniversaries feels like a clear “God wink.” It’s so surreal that one of our highest highs and one of our absolute lowest lows happened on the very dates meant for celebrating “us”. It feels like a sign from above—a quiet reminder that no matter what life throws at us, we can get through it together.

Four years into marriage and I feel so lucky to have you in sickness and in health. With you everything feels possible. Happy anniversary Jake! Here’s to you and the amazing man, husband, friend and father that you are 🖤

TW: Missed Miscarriage

Just 3 days before starting a second IVF cycle to grow our family, we were shocked to see our very first spontaneous positive pregnancy test. And for 2.5 months, we got to secretly love on our little strawberry with so much excitement and disbelief! We began planning and scheming how our lives were about to change. How Rome would be as a big brother, what house projects we would need to finish & which pregnancy items to pull out of storage.

But at our 10 week scan, we learned we were having a Missed Miscarriage. “We’re sorry, there is no longer a heartbeat” rang through the room. It is a blunt kind of heartbreak that has reshaped us from the inside out.

A missed miscarriage carries a very specific pain: where your body holds onto a pregnancy for weeks, sometimes months, after it has ended. Your symptoms are all still there, your baby still nestled in place, and your tummy still bloated. It leaves you stranded in an invisible pain while the rest of the world carries on around you. It is a quiet purgatory where you are forced to carry the daily reminders of what is no longer coming your way.

This journey has had days of immense gratitude followed by days of unbearable sadness. But in the darkest moments, the peace I’ve clung to most has come from women & friends of mine who have opened up about their own losses. Reading those countless stories has reminded me of a truth that is so hard to offer ourselves: they did nothing wrong to deserve their heartbreak, and neither did I.

Unfortunately there is no neat bow to wrap around this kind of loss—no easy answers or tidy endings. If this is your journey as well, I see you and hold your grief alongside mine.

To our sweet little strawberry: you were loved from the very first second, and you have changed our hearts forever 🍓✨🪽

Idk about your kid, but my 13 month old gets SO bored with his same old toys. So I’ve partnered with 123 Baby Box to send him monthly toys that are age appropriate & developmentally helpful to his learning… and guess what? He LOVES them!
