Measure twice, cut once? Nah, I measure five times, panic, and then cut anyway! Because once that fabric hits the floor, there’s no “seam-ing” it back together. Lacking my mom’s fancy tailor’s chalk, I borrowed the next best thing—my kids’ sidewalk chalk. Turns out, I like marking with a neon pink, ice cream cone shaped jumbo-sized chalk more than any sober adult should! Notice that Busch is NA—because nothing says “classy DIY” like sipping a near beer while attempting a perfectly straight cut. I like my beer like I like my hemlines-no regrets!

My first official client—Jake’s sister—is about to stitch up the town at her friend's bachelorette party this weekend; complete with drinks, laughs, and some good ol’ line dancing. She found the perfect black sequin-accented jumpsuit (daisiesanddenim.com), but there was just one little snag… it was about 6.5 inches too long. So, she asked me to hem the situation.

Now, let’s be clear—I’m not a professional. That title belongs to my mom or Shelly Beckman! But if it’s black, it’s pretty hard to screw up too badly🤗

Ever dreamed of being a hero? Well, I once stitched my way to glory at a wedding when disaster unraveled. A wardrobe malfunction threatened to turn a big day into a big oops... but lucky for this guest, I was thread-y. Jake laughed at me for carrying a sewing kit in my purse, but guess who patched up the problem while everyone else just hemmed and hawed? That’s right-this gal.

My expert teacher, my mom, has one leg longer than the other, so let’s just say precision is a stretch!
