Sewing class will never be the same.
Several years ago in my first classes. Gena Bolin started class. She brought several of her grandaughters over the first few weeks and even her daughter came.
They called her Nanny and we all joined in.
Nanny was a blast. Every class she would come zipping in loaded down with sewing supplies and her trusty cup.
Right behind her with the second load of sewing supplies was Mr Hubert. The first few classes I wasnt forsure he even liked me. lol A man of few words . But as the weeks went by he would smile and joke with me . I always told him I was a good baby sitter .lol
3 hours later and never late he would be back to haul all the stuff back to the truck and gather up Nanny till the next week.
They were the perfect pair.
A funny story ( just one of many) on Nanny.
She came to class one night and set up her machine laid her stuff out and zipped right back out the door. Coming back just a few minutes later with this huge chunk ROCK. So heavy she could barely carry it .
She laid it down by her foot pedal , set back down, made sure it was where it should be. Then she grinned that little grin and said "Now, that thing wont run off" lol I bet she thought about that all week and then carried out her plan. The rock is still there. Her sewing rock.
I went and saw Nanny and Mr Hubert on Wed. ( and Beth ) . Nanna told me it was ok, everything would be fine. She had "Nanny" strength even then.
I told her that she may have to throw a pillow at Mr Hubert , who was sitting right there beside her, to keep him in line. She looked at me and said " He wont leave me , not even to rest." I told her that was true love and she said "Oh Yes". Then with that same grin just a little weaker, she said "But Id still throw a pillow at him".
Later that evening I got word that Mr Hubert had a heartattack.
On April the 3rd, Nanny's 79th birthday, Mr Hubert passed away . just a few short hours later Nanny joined him. They are fine , they are together , 62 years and still going strong.
My prayers are for their girls, Suzette, Wendy, Beth and Christina. Their grandkids , family and friends.
If you met Nanny and spent any time with her you knew she loved her family and was proud of them.
Nanny you will forever be a part of my sewing class. I will miss you and Mr Hubert.
