Jerry Fisk, MS Custom Knives Mastersmith Custom Knife Maker Why I make knives...

I make knives and edged tools because of a life-long interest and desire. It is no different now.

The only limits to this field are those I put on myself. Lots of times I blend centuries-old techniques with modern methods. I prefer designs drawn from something that simulates nature and prefer to work in natural materials. Forging knives for a living has been a hot and dirty job throughout history. The glamour fades quickly as you burn the shirts off your body. When I was asked once, why I make

knives, I said, "...to show that I lived". My work will last hundreds of years longer than I will. But now they will know I was here."

Just thought I would put a little word out to the knifemakers out there that follow my page: Recently I was contacted by a radio company, All Business Media, to do a live interview. I accepted and did the interview but have had at least a dozen makers contact me and thank me for their recommendation. As much as I would recommend many of you, I Did Not Mention Any Names and I am not endorsing their company or services. Unfortunately, they will probably try to sell you something.

This is my riflemans knife. The handle is Horse Chestnut and was planted by George Washington, {paper work included}. The blade fuller was done by hand the way they were done back then. The guard is shapred to match the engraving and it is fully engraved. The blade is 11 inches of damascus in a pattern I was just playing around with. Hope you like it.

Today I honor those from WWII and the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
The steels in this blade are from a tram track that was in the bombing December 7, 1941. Thank you to the greatest generation of people. I had several old friends as a child that was in that war.
