I just bought myself a hat from inspired by the ones I see all over town that are perfectly broken in like a favorite pair of jeans. If your beloved old Kangol needs a deep clean, reach out! I’d love the to give it a refresh and keep it going.
PS- I ended up picking the cream colored one. Which should I get next?!

Before and after photos of a much loved and very well traveled hat getting a new lease on life! Jack came to me with the idea of replacing half the brim and I’m so happy I followed his concept! I added a new straw brim for half of it, made repairs to the crown, and gave it a new band with a special wooden button to reflect the contrasting colors of straw. I really like it! Objects, much like people, are more interesting when they have history, a story, and show it.

The owner, Jack, is a wonderful poet often found typing on Royal St. or Frenchman street with his charming dog Oz. Say hi and get a poem when you see him!

Howard’s bowler hat had remnants of hot glue on it from where very realistic cat ears were applied. (Sounds like he had at least one very fun night!) There were also quite a few moth holes on it, a lot of dust, and a ribbon that had seen better days. After quite a bit of cleaning and smoothing of the felt, and the addition of a new ribbon, it’s nearly good as new and ready for a lot more parties.

I especially love how my asymmetrical bow turned out! I decided to raise up the ribbon on one side just to cover the one moth hole that was too deep to smooth over, but now I think I’ll start using this style of hat band more often just for the beauty of it.

The hat was bought many years ago from , and that’s why you buy a good hat! A little maintenance and they’re almost good as new.

My favorite project of the week was from Chris and Nia Robinson. They saw a man wearing a felt fedora baseball hat and knew they needed one. We chose to make it out of a gorgeous h**p straw Goorin Bros. hat called the Butch Jackson. I have to admit, I was intrigued by the the idea to start but LOVED it when it was done. I put a wire into the brim so it can be as curved or straight as you want it to be. I think there needs to be more of these in the world. ...And honestly, it was a fun experience cutting most of the brim off a brand new very nice hat! Kinda like the first time I cut into an heirloom wedding dress!
