a family in Los Angeles is mourning the loss of their dog, Jameson, after LAPD officers fatally shot the pet during what relatives say was a celebration of the New York Knicks’ NBA championship win.
According to reports, officers were called to a condo building after a neighbor reported hearing a woman screaming inside. LAPD says Jameson, a 2-year-old golden retriever, Saint Bernard and poodle mix, rushed at officers when they arrived, leading to the shooting.Video captured the aftermath as the dog’s owner broke down in tears.
The family had been celebrating the Knicks’ championship victory before the incident. A photo reportedly taken just moments before the shooting showed Jameson wearing a New York Knicks shirt.
Authorities say the incident remains under review.
