I asked my daughter to choose the book for today’s post because I was busy packing us up for my cousin’s wedding. She went through all of her Piggie and Gerald books and chose “I Really Like Slop!” by Mo Willems

I’m not sure I’d have ever thought of this book for Food Book Friday, but it’s a brilliant choice. Food, flavors, and taste are so individual, and inform what we consider to be a delicious flavor. This book uses those differences over taste to demonstrate the importance of exploration and friendship.

We all delight in this book every time we read it.

We love frozen peas!  Really any frozen vegetable is better than none and sometimes, for many varying reasons, this is the way to go!  

Have your little one put the frozen peas in a saucepan and pour over just enough milk to cover the peas.  Add a pinch of salt.  Over medium heat, bring the peas to a simmer, making sure the milk doesn't boil over.  Simmer for a couple minutes until the peas are tender.  Right after you remove from the heat, add a dollop of butter.  

Eat as is for your little one (don’t forget the delicious liquid), and of course you can add in for the adult version… such as herbs, lemon zest and even bacon!
