Jamilah studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, CA, Johnson County Community College in Johnson County, KS and at the esteemed Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City, giving her a very well rounded fashion education. Jamilah graduated from FIT in May of 2006 with her BFA in fashion design. That same year, one of her pieces was selected for FIT’s 2006 BFA fa
shion show, “The Big Apple’s Fascination with Fashion” fashion show on May 8, 2006. While in New York, Jamilah interned with New York fashion designer David Rodriguez under his close tutelage. Jamilah was selected to show her line in the 10th Annual West 18th Street fashion show where her collection was called:"Strong, slick...keen on the dramatic, Jamilah Knight offered a more practical, real-world line of apparel. Knight aptly used broad swaths of black to set off slashes of vibrant color. Unexpected compositions and complex, sculptural skirts were hallmarks of her collection."
