New York Tribal Art Week

New York Tribal Art Week We are pleased to announce the First Fall Edition of New York Tribal Art Week. This will be the first ever New York Tribal Art Week to take place in the Fall.

A week of auctions, events and gallery exhibitions showcasing the best quality works of art from Africa, Oceania and the Americas. Historically, New Yorkers have been among the foremost collectors of AOA tribal art. The New York avant guard, politicians, artists, business leaders, professionals, fashion moguls and celebrities such as Helena Rubinstein, Nelson Rockefeller, Andy Warhol, John Friede,

Armand Arman and Robert Mapplethorpe have solidified the international tribal art market. New York Tribal Art Week was formed in 2009, with the goal, to bring together those who share a common interest in the arts and to inspire a greater public knowledge of the cultural importance and artistic significance of non-western art forms. Starting November 12th, the week long focus on the traditional arts from the peoples of Africa, Oceania and the Americas will take place. The New York Tribal Art Week Fall Edition includes; Sotheby’s historically significant sale of the Allan Stone collection, Volume One. The Bonhams sale of African, Oceanic and Pre-Columbian Art. The Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition Nelson A. Rockefeller Vision : In Pursuit of the Best in the Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. David Cassera Presents: Tribal and Modern Art at Galerie Mourlot. The Fall Madison Ancient & tribal Art Show at the Arader Gallery. Faceshifting: Masking The Spirits at Cavin-Morris and much more. Collectors, connoisseurs, curators and dealers of traditional AOA tribal art from around the world are expected to gather in New York for the auctions and exhibitions. Local and visiting collectors and aficionados, as well as anyone interested in tribal art or simply wanting to learn about this fascinating art form are invited to join and help bring back the excitement of AOA tribal art to it's original home in New York City! Greetings from Cassera Galleries EST. 1960. We are always interested in buying and or consigning Northwest Art, artifacts, tribal art, antiques and more. If you have art work and would like to sell for top dollar and you don’t want to deal with rude, self absorbed people from auction houses then give us a shout.

The auction houses will beat you down on the price, then take a big chunk of your money, plus they will sell it cheaply. Their business model is always quantity over quality, while the gallery is much more selective. Auctions also don’t care about the seller, it’s all ‘turn and burn’ while our gallery focuses on creating meaningful relationships with our clients.

I know many local dealers that take work to auctions when they need quick cash, but after 14 years in the Northwest, Cassera Galleries is proud to never have had to consign a single piece in a local auction.

As a gallery we have the ability to ask high retail prices and offer to our discerning collectors worldwide. Not like the auction houses who are dealing with the same local buyers and people on liveauctioneers and Invaluable who are looking to get something for nothing.

So give me a shout to set up a visit if you have questions or would like an honest evaluation of your valuable and artwork. We do appraisals as well, so it’s not always just about selling.

Cheers!
