Born in Uruguay, Gabriela Hearst grew up on her family’s ranch surrounded by horses and cattle. After more than a decade spent in design, Gabriela honored her family’s heritage through the launch of her eponymous label in Fall 2015, as well as taking over the operations of her father’s ranch in Uruguay after his passing. In Gabriela’s own words: “I wanted to create a brand that reflects a slower p

ace and process: where things are made with care and detail, where tradition is more important than trend, where there is a purpose to every piece. Each garment is an item into which I could pour my desires—made with impeccable constructions and uncompromising, noble materials. Together, they tell a story of the places I love that made me who I am: Uruguay and New York. Combining the utilitarian and the beautiful, I wanted to challenge myself and design long-lasting garments that hold memories for the woman who wears them. She is a real woman, alluring and powerful, but there is much action in her life and these clothes are her uniform, her armor.”

Gabriela Hearst currently lives in Manhattan, with her husband and their children.

Drawing from traditional men’s tailoring, wool-silk houndstooth is refreshed with bold pinstripes in the collection’s color palette, crafted into a hand-canvased tailored jacket and a new Harrington jacket with suede details.

Pure cashmere felt, woven in the mountains of Biella and dyed loden green, is cut into relaxed, tailored double-breasted English overcoats and peacoats. Recycled double-face cashmere—created by breaking down knit sweaters and refabricating the yarn—is used for classic overcoats and shearling-trimmed bombers, finished with hand-sewn double-face seams and raw-edged shearling collars to reduce waste and preserve the natural form of the material.

Inspired by early 20th-century wool flannels, fabrics are softened with added cashmere and brushed to ease the structure of classic tailoring. The double-breasted blazer is relaxed through the shoulder and silhouette, paired with a new double-pleated trouser.

Soft cashmere bouclé is used for unlined fleece zip-ups with cashmere piping.

The barn jacket is reimagined in quilted flannel with leather trims and a cashmere corduroy collar

Cashmere-silk chenille yarn gives the knitwear a velvet finish — the composition creates a subtle sheen and a rich, textural surface, almost like a fleece made in an incredibly high-quality fabric.

A custom-woven herringbone speckle combines specially spun and dyed Scottish tweed yarns with Italian cashmere, then washed and brushed for a dense yet soft hand. The fabric is used for double-breasted coats and single-breasted sport coats.

Raw natural leather, inspired by the workbenches of high jewelry artisans, highlights the beauty of natural aging. It appears in classic aviator bomber jackets with recycled fur collar details, as well as overshirts that contrast the raw leather with soft recycled cashmere.

The Positivity Ring: a visual reminder that positive thoughts shape positive outcomes.

Crafted in 18K rose gold, this classic signet ring features four hand-cut gemstones: yellow sapphire, tourmaline, amethyst, and citrine, each individually sourced for exceptional color and clarity. Meticulously set so the channels between the stones form a gold cross, or “positive” sign, at its center.

Only three were ever made, and just one remains.

“Our flag honors the indigenous people of South Dakota. A sunset of colors inspired by buffalo hide paintings, framed with a celestial compass highlighting the natural and spiritual knowledge of the Dakota, Nakota, and Lakota people. We wanted to honor the reciprocity these indigenous groups maintain with their ancestral home. As the sun sets behind the black hills we are reminded, everything comes back to the land.”
