Rie Yamagata was born in Los Angeles to an artist father and a mother whose family was in the textile industry. Her design career began at New York's Parsons School of Design. in womenswear at London's Central Saint Martins before assuming posts in New York and Tokyo. RHIÉ is designed and headquartered in the historic West Village in New York.
