INANNA — BRIDGED

My work approaches architecture and fashion as temporal systems, structured through form, material, and the accumulation of memory.

This project draws from the mythology of Inanna, the ancient Mesopotamian goddess of love, war, and fertility—known as The Queen of Heaven, and later as Ishtar by the Sumerians, Akkadians, Babylonians, and Assyrians.

The project explores fashion as a spatial and symbolic system, reflecting the complex and contradictory traits embodied by Inanna.

It draws from her mythological journey, symbolizing transformation and transcendence. BRIDGED refers to the act of crossing—between time, cultures, and realms.

The bridge serves as both a literal and metaphorical element, framing transformation through time.

إنانا — الجسر / العبور

يتعامل عملي مع العمارة والأزياء بوصفهما منظومات زمنية، تتشكّل عبر الشكل والمادة وتراكم الذاكرة.

يستند هذا المشروع إلى إنانا، الإلهة الرافدينية القديمة للحب والحرب والخصوبة، المعروفة بلقب ملكة السماء، والتي عُرفت لاحقًا باسم عشتار لدى السومريين والأكديين والبابليين والآشوريين.

يقدّم مشروع إنانا — الجسر الأزياء بوصفها منظومة مكانية ورمزية، تعكس الصفات المركّبة والمتناقضة التي تجسّدها إنانا: القوة والهشاشة، الخلق والدمار.

ينطلق العمل من رحلة إنانا عبر العوالم بوصفها رمزًا للتحوّل والتجاوز. ويشير الجسر إلى فعل العبور—بين الأزمنة، والثقافات، والعوالم المختلفة.

ويعمل الجسر هنا كعنصر حرفي ومجازي في آنٍ واحد، يؤطّر التحوّل عبر الزمن.

This is my space to share my thoughts—unfiltered, unapologetic, and unburdened by the need for validation or response.

I challenge all forms of stereotypes, societal pressures, and norms. I write because I care about our progress as humans and for those who find refuge and validation in my words.

Comments are off because I have no interest in engaging in discussions to validate or invalidate my beliefs. My time is precious and dedicated to pursuing my architectural visions. Until my memoir finds its way into the world, this is where my thoughts will live.

The Backstory:

The Fashion theme is named I N A N N A and the sub-theme is called BRIDGED.

I have always seen the relationship between Fashion and Architecture. Way before I went into Architecture school, I loved Fashion and always loved the idea of designing my own clothes.

To this day, I remember the tailor (Bayoumi) in Baghdad, and his famous few words, “It can’t be done!” while I keep insisting on the unusual cuts that I want him to make.

These same words followed me around in Architecture and other life matters.

Technologies today are a great tool to expand our imagination and hopefully we will get soon to the day when no one is told “It is too difficult to make!”

The Backstory:

The Fashion theme is named I N A N N A and the sub-theme is called BRIDGED.

I have always seen the relationship between Fashion and Architecture. Way before I went into Architecture school, I loved Fashion and always loved the idea of designing my own clothes.
