The Real Heroes

there is a privilege
in being alive
in your wholeness
the real heroes
are the children born with sickness
they do not know the making of
the disabled

the ones born into bodies
the world was never built to hold
the ones who have lost their light
and from the bottomless of nothing
still find something to believe in

the sick
the ones who have buried
the people they thought
they could never live without
and somehow
still find the might to keep going

the real heroes are you
the heart
that has known every reason to stop
and keeps beating
anyway

but for people who will eventually die
for people with little to no control
over how or when
we spend far too much time
on dramatics and negativity
instead of making the best
of this temporal abode
and if you are born into privilege
lucky you
you already have a taste of heaven
in this hell
of uncertainty

Crossing paths with Zendaya somewhere along my New York odyssey 🤍

This summer has been an odyssey of its own. Cinema, football, art, family, good food, beautiful moments and a whole lot of creative inspiration. Watching stories like The Odyssey that I first encountered in high school come alive again through a completely different lens has only made me want to dive deeper into my own work.

Feeling inspired to create more, write more and, most importantly, finish my book. ✍🏿🦂
