From film sets to design studios—two-time Oscar winner Ruth E. Carter has partnered with Detroit’s only design-focused HBCU, Pensole Lewis College (PLC Detroit), and adidas to unveil the “Apparel Creation STU/DEO.”
Born out of her drive to honor culture through craft, this new creative space equips emerging Black designers with industry-level tools, mentorship, and the freedom to tell their own stories through design. “Design is more than fashion—it is storytelling, it is culture, it is legacy,” Carter said.
This isn’t just a studio—it’s a movement.
