The first day of preschool has one clothing rule that matters more than the outfit you imagined:
They have to be able to use the bathroom without help.
In a lot of centres, teachers aren't permitted to help with clothing past a certain point. So on day one, skip:
❌ Overalls
❌ Belts
❌ Buttons and zips on trousers
❌ Bodysuits that snap at the crotch
❌ Tights under a dress
Save all of it for a day when you're there.
What works instead: elastic waist, a print they already like, a zip layer they can manage alone, velcro shoes.
One more thing — wash the new outfit once before. Stiff, unfamiliar fabric is one more strange thing on a day that already has plenty.
