Fit is her forte and creating unique looking, great-fitting, beautiful pieces is her most rewarding accomplishment each season. Fashion Designer Stephanie Schaich was born in 1966, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She grew up in the artisan town of Lititz with her father, a fine artist and art director for an international company, her mother who is a cut paper artist and her two brothers who gr
ew successful careers in the graphic design industrial design fields. After achieving notable awards for her senior collections at Drexel University, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1988 and moved to New York taking a freelance job in the art department at Ralph Lauren. During her first week there, she was offered a design job at her dream company, Ellen Tracy. In her first week at the company, she designed and graphed an intarsia sweater that was used in the company’s national advertising campaign. After designing for Ellen Tracy for six years, Stephanie saw growth in the direct sales market and took a job with Worth, a bridge company, and designed there for five years eventually partnering as head designer. In 1998, Stephanie took the job as Design Director of Barry Bricken womenswear; she and Barry married two years later. At the company, seeing a need to address a more contemporary customer, she started a division with her own label, Stephanie Schaich. The collection sold to over 30 accounts in it’s first season. In the following year, the Barry Bricken label was sold and the company disbanded. Since relaunching the collection in 2009, it has become a strong presence in a growing number of boutiques and specialty stores.
