Fishing is like Photoshop. Most people teach themselves, pick up a few tips from a friend, or maybe had to look up a technique from a video. In the end you stick to what you know, and get the same results as someone with a different technique.
If you look at the fly tying desks of those that started the sport, here in New York, you’ll see an abundance of workarounds and half ideas. Its incredible. They were making it up as they went along. Study the bugs and the rest follows.

Do what you know first, and for everything else, improvise confidently.

When you go on a hike, sometimes the entire point is to get to the spot with the best view so you can eat a sandwich surrounded by bliss. I call this spot on the trail “Lunch Break Point”, and it’s located on every trail.

The picnic blanket is the smallest viable form of outdoor gear. It’s for the unexpected Lunch Break Point.

Button up weight, but with enough room to wear a button up underneath. Shoulder darts, and waistband pleats keep the flexibility and roomy airflow.

Two huge internal pockets that you won’t notice from the outside, keeping a very sharp silhouette. You’ll be able to haul a whole spread from the grocery to the park.
