Tonight’s Film ✨🎥✨ Una Giornata Particolare is set in Rome. The year is 1938. As the city erupts to celebrate Adolf Hitler’s visit and Benito Mussolini’s alliance with N**i Germany, fascism is on full display. Antonietta, played by Sophia Loren, is a weary, apolitical wife and mother molded by duty and obedience, left behind in her nearly emptied apartment building while her ardently fascist husband attends the parade. There she encounters the handsome Gabriele, played by Marcello Mastroianni, a former radio announcer quietly erased by the regime and awaiting internal exile to Sardinia.

Over the course of a single day, as crowds march and cheer beyond their walls, Antonietta and Gabriele form an unexpected, intimate bond that subtly yet irrevocably alters their understanding of love, identity, and political power. Director Ettore Scola reveals fascism not only as public spectacle, but as a system that isolates, disciplines, and quietly crushes individual lives behind closed doors.
