Coronado Bridge Under Construction, San Diego (Circa 1968)

Massive support towers began to rise above San Diego Bay as crews worked steadily on the Coronado Bridge. Cranes and barges dotted the water, with steel beams being hoisted into place. The structure slowly took shape from both ends, stretching toward the middle with a graceful curve. Construction vessels floated nearby, guiding materials and managing the build from below. The skyline of downtown served as a distant backdrop, reminding everyone how this bridge would soon connect more than just roads. It was one of the city’s most ambitious undertakings, redefining how people moved between Coronado and the mainland
