WoundedKnee Skateboards

WoundedKnee Skateboards We are here to sell skateboards in order to give them away to skateboarders on the Pine Ridge Reservation to support the skateboard culture

this skatebaord company was founded by Jim Murphy and Andy kessler in NYC ,1998. after coming up with the name Woundedknee, Andy Kessler and I had a vision of someday building skateparks on the Pine Ridge Rez for the youth in honor of those Lakota people to died in the Wounded Knee Massacre of 1890. We were able to build our first park in the town of Pine Ridge in 2011. we have supplying the youth

with boards and t shirts since then, and will build another skatepark in the Wounded Knee District this year with the help of some great people.

It was another great weekend in Pine Ridge with a contest we threw in memory of Monk and Mike Hawk! Jeff Ament showed up to help with the event and put MPS boards together for the kids and hook them up with our new WK/MPS SPF Bones wheels collab that Walt Pourier designed so every skater got hooked up! The Donut Hill crew from Nebraska showed up with 30 full set ups, and we had brought multiple set ups with Bones, Indy’s, WK boards , Montana Pool Service decks , FA and Hockey decks so every skater that entered the contest got a full set up and a Vans bag full of prizes from Vans, Skateology, MPS, Bones, Powell Peralta,Juice mag, Indy,Skateratz, and Mob grip!
We threw a Mike “Money” Hawk best trick contest and the skaters went big! We also threw a Mad Monk Speed train battle where a pair of skaters followed each other in the bowl and saw who would stay on the longest without falling! We ran A bowl jam for 13 and under , and 14 and over and everyone had a Blast! We had a Mega sticker toss at the end and the kids got hooked up! Everyone left with a prize and a huge smile after skating this Grindline park that Monk and crew put all their heart into building!!! Big thanks for the Pourier family for all their help with organizing with us, KDawg for keeping things rolling, Crazy Joe Mesteth for the killer , killer sound system , Conscious Alliance for sponsorship support, Indy trucks for your constant truck hookups , Bones wheels for a killer collab wheel and tons of shirts and stickers bearings ,Vans for all the killer shirts , stickers bags and wallets, Juice for all the Monk Issues, Jason dill for all the boxes of decks, and Jeff Ament for all the good times, for all the killer MPS product and skatepark construction support!!!!!!! Together all these people help us to help the kids and we couldn’t do this without your support and ENERGY!!!
The Lakota Skaters are carving and ripping harder every time we come back, and this new generation of skaters are ripping harder than ever! Thanks to all the skaters who should showed up and made this contest a blast!!!

I had the honor of attending the Pine Point school skatepark opening on the White Earth Reservation 2 weeks ago as Director of the Wk Four Directions Skatepark program for the Stronghold Society . We have been working with Tribal Rep Clinton Alexander to build 3 small skate parks on the Rez after the Tribe was gifted funds by the Super Bowl Legacy Fund !!! After the Grindline crew finished at Pine Point , the spots in the Town of White Earth and Nehtahwash are ready to go when the crew returns next week!
Our day at The Pine Point School/Boys and Girls Club started with putting together set ups from Powell /Peralta
And getting the triple Eight pads and helmets ready for the kids! We had a crew from Fargo drive in to skate the demo with me and do clinics with the kids to teach the how to roll, flair and Kickturn in their new Grindline park! The boys and girls were ripping, learning fast and hungry to learn more! Falcon, Eric and Lionel ripped the new park and stoked the locals bigtime!!Local rappers from Red lake showed up to entertain the crowd as we skates the day away on fresh concrete with the locals !!!!
This is just the beginning for these kids and the Stronghold Society is going to work with Clinton to come back to throw events at these parks and support the kids as they learn more and strive to skate more terrain !! We have a shared vision as skateboarding as a positive , healthy and fun activity for the youth that will keep them focused. There is also talk of building more parks here and expanding the footprints of the parks that will be finished this month!!
Big thanks to Clinton Alexander and the White Earth Reservation, the boys and girls club at Pine Point, Little Eddie and Grindline , Triple Eight, Powell, Bones,Indy and the Tony Hawk Foundation !
See you at the White Earth and Nehtahwash openings!!!

The White Earth reservation in Northern Minnesota contacted the Stronghold Society after being gifted $100,000 by the Super Bowl Legacy Fund to build 3 skateparks on their reservation! Grindline got a design together and we all went out to the groundbreaking ceremony at the Pine Point school on the Rez where the tribe receceived a ceremonial check from the Super Bowl Legacy Fund !the Xgames/ESPN reps brought down Bmx pro K Rob to run a "Shred Hate" anti bullying campaign and bike demo.
Target donated 150+ Tony Hawk full set ups, Powell Peralta /Bones also donated full set ups , and Triple Eight supplied over 100 helmets and full pad set ups!! Bones and Indy are also down with supplying trucks and Bones SPF wheels for all future premium set ups that will be ordered !
The Tribes Point person Clinton Alexander and Falcon coordinated setting up some quarter pipes , boxes and rails in the basketball court for the kids to ride while Monk from Grindline coordinated the digging up and leveling out of the future park footprint with the tribes workers! Local Fargo skate rippers showed up to rip the ramps and stoke out the kids! We plastered the kids with Bones and Indy stickers and welcomed them to the Skateboard family! Tons of smiles skating in the 95 degree heatwave , and the kids can't wait for the concrete !
Big thanks to the SuperBowl Legacy Fund, ESPN /Xgames reps for hooking up the kids in a big way. Also thanks to Clinton Alexander and the White Earth Tribe for sharing the vision of how skateboarding saves lives!!!!!!
