♻️ TWO TEXTILE RECOVERY TIPS FROM PHOENIX USED CLOTHING CORP.

Every bag of textiles recovered is one less bag headed toward a landfill. Here are two simple ways you can help us keep textiles in use longer:

TIP #1-Keep It Clean, Dry & Bagged
Before placing clothing, shoes, linens, or other accepted textiles into a Phoenix bin, make sure everything is clean, completely dry, odor-free, and securely tied in a bag. This helps protect the items from moisture and contamination so they have the best opportunity for reuse.

TIP #2 ~Don’t Throw It Away Just Because You Wouldn’t Wear It
A missing button, small stain, or an item that is no longer your style doesn’t automatically mean it belongs in the trash. Textile recovery gives materials another opportunity for reuse and recovery instead of going directly into our landfills.

Ever wonder what your clothing contributions look like once they’re inside a Phoenix bin? 💚♻️

We know some of our community members are sometimes concerned about placing their items into a clothing collection bin. That’s why we work hard to make sure your contributions remain clean, dry, and protected from the elements.

Our bins are secured and lined with cardboard, which is replaced on a regular schedule to help prevent dirt and dust from accumulating. Our primary goal is simple: keep usable textiles out of our landfills and give them another opportunity for use.

So the next time you have clothing, shoes, or other accepted textiles to contribute, please choose the Phoenix bin that is most convenient for you.

We just completed our site visit for the Phoenix Used Clothing Corp. textile collection permit with DNREC, and we want to thank everyone who helps us keep our program running the right way.

Please continue to bag all clothing and textiles and make sure items are clean, dry, and odor-free before placing them into our bins. These simple steps help us meet the standards of our permit and ensure more items can be reused instead of becoming waste.

Over the next week, you may see DNREC staff visiting our collection locations as part of the permit process. We appreciate everyone helping us keep the areas around our bins clean and following best practices.

Please place all accepted items inside the clothing bins and never leave bags or other items on the ground. No food or household trash should ever be placed in our bins.

Together, we are protecting our environment, reducing textile waste, and keeping reusable items out of Delaware landfills.
