Draped

Draped A gorgeous collection of headwraps, clothing, and accessories for the eccentric modern woman. Spread She landed a job as a drug and alcohol counselor in 2014.

Holly Draper is a creative Delawarean sewist who has been designing clothes and accessories since 2014. Holly’s clothing designs are inspired by her travels to different countries, bold or textile prints, and bright colors. Holly received her degree in Clinical Psychology in 2013 from Lincoln University. After graduating, Holly went on to work in the mental health care field. After dealing with mu

ch stress and overwhelm from work, Holly started to take sewing classes as a hobby and a way to unwind from her job. She enjoyed sewing so much that she slowly started to put ideas together to start a business. At the end of 2015, Holly’s job announced that she would be losing her job in February 2016 due to downsizing and moving farther downstate. Too far of a drive for Holly, she decided to apply for other counseling positions around her area. When all of the positions became filled for the jobs she applied for, Holly was given the idea to launch her business plans into what is now known as Draped. She hopes to inspire women to be authentically themselves and embrace the freedom of self-expression through bright bubbly colors and bold prints.

Greetings Flamingos!

I know it’s been an awfully long time since you have heard last from me. Let me explain.
Essentially… I walked away from my brand. And I didn’t think I’d come back. Draped used to be everything to me. I had freedom, creativity at my fingertips, and a space where I felt seen. But life got super heavy. I was grieving, I was overwhelmed, and my office stayed in boxes. Eventually, I just stepped away because it all felt like too much. And then my life didn’t slow down (not even by the slightest). I became a full time caregiver to my father.
So to answer the most popular question in my inbox: “Are you coming back?”… Yes. Yes I am. I recently came to the conclusion that coming back doesn’t have to look perfect…it just looks like me showing up (say it with me: CONSISTENTLY). For real this time.
If you’d like to follow along on my journey, tap the follow button. We’ll chat more tomorrow.

-Xoxo Holly 💋

After sharing my life update with you all yesterday, sooo many of you shared with me that you also caretake your parents that have dementia. I wish I shared more of what that journey was like with you all real-time but it all was just so much to process, especially as an only child.
In 2020 I felt on top of the world with . I had a ton of partnerships, major brand deals being made behind the scenes and everything fell apart once the pandemic hit. Somehow, I was still blessed with having the most sales I’ve ever experienced in business by that summer, however my mothers illness really ramped up and I couldn’t keep up with my businesses growth and my moms “new normal” ( which kept changing rapidly).
My mom was officially diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2021 and went from being able to drive and manage her bills to questioning if I was her daughter and forgetting our birthdays within a year. Every few months my mom hit a “new normal” and lost an old ability. I think one of the worst parts about it all is that once my mother was let go from her job a few years prior due to unfitness to work as a special education teacher, she also lost healthcare. I unfortunately couldn’t give my mom the true care she deserved without having the discussion of giving up my mothers home that she worked her entire life to obtain. I had to cut off my moms cable/phone/internet just to have enough to pay for doctors visits and medication.
Watching my mothers decline broke my heart in so many ways that I needed to take long breaks from running because I lacked the creative drive and energy to really keep things going consistently. So much so that I actually had to apply for government assistance for the first time in my life just to keep food on my table and keep the lights on.
These last 4 years I’ve honestly been going through the ringer, but at the end of the day I am still standing to tell the story. I’m honestly happy to say that even though my heart is broken with my mothers loss, I’m so thankful she no longer has to suffer with that absolutely awful disease.

Hey Flamingos! I know I’ve dropped off the face of the earth after giving a huge speech about returning from a break from Draped but….life has been life-in.

On January 8th my mother died after a long battle with dementia. My mom was my biggest cheerleader especially when it came to the creation of . Since then I had to make an executive decision to put activity with on hold so I can process my new normal and just plain mourn.
One of the last gifts my mother has given to me is a permanent office space to grow . This month we will be officially renovating that space and moving into that space as well. I’m extremely excited for it all.
So here’s the plan: Currently I have suspended all purchasing activities on our website. We will officially return fully back to business on our 8th anniversary (May 30th). Before then we’ll have a few surprises exclusive to our email list (link to sign up in bio).

Thank you all who have reached out via DM, text, and email checking in on me. This journey has not been easy for me and I truly appreciate the love. I’ll be sharing the renovation BTS so stay tuned Flamingos.
