on the magnificent Mountain Mint ring, as glamorous as she is sweet. Set in satin finished yellow gold and featuring a beautifully cut prasiolite and natural diamond accents, this is certainly one little flower you don’t want to miss 🌻🐝

A rarely seen peek at the benchier half of my studio. I bought this antique watchmakers bench years ago, there’s a carved in signature from the builder and a date notating it as having been built in the late 1800’s. The thing weighs about 150 pounds, is rock solid, and has many many wear marks from its lifetime of use. To say it’s one of my favorite things about my studio is an understatement. It’s both a showpiece, and an incredibly useful space. It has been designated as my gem lab, weigh station, and newly added pulse-arc welding hub.

Something about seeing this bench calms and centers me. I couldn’t really tell you why, but maybe it’s a matter of adding an old-world jewelers bench into a new-world CAD and wax studio, rooting the past and the present together in an ever changing business.

That feeling when a package from Michelle Mai arrives and it contains the most special yellow sapphire you’ve ever seen 🌼

I’ve been searching for this very sapphire for *years* (seriously, I’m not kidding) and all along the answer was obviously to commission Michelle to craft it for me. I am in tears, it’s more perfect than I could have ever hoped, and ya’ll aren’t going to believe the piece it’s going into.

This has been a long time coming, and I can’t wait to share where it will end up.

Without further ado, may I finally introduce you all to the newest gal to join the flock, Luna.

I really debated on what to name this ring but ultimately settled on Luna, an homage to the moon and the goddess of the same namesake. Why Luna? Well, this sapphire fully embodies the night sky and the steadiness of the moon. It is absolutely full of inclusions, but they do not detract from its beauty. Rather than take away from the gem, they add depth and movement, light and dark, like little trails of stardust and moonlight.

In sunlight the gem has a lot of bright purple and some blues in its body color, while in diffused interior light it’s more of a moody velvety violet. Nestled in platinum and accented with natural diamonds, if you’re looking for a ring that screams I love you to the end of the universe this might just be the one.

on the Opal Solstice necklace 👏🙌

This piece, believe it or not, took a long time to concetualize and come up with. While certainly not the most complex of designs, the mechanics of balancing a heavy chonky opal on a chain without it immediately were actually rather tough to figure out. Part of the solution ended up being heavy, chonky gold behind it, but I didn’t want just plain metal (because you know, I literally cannot) and thus the dahlia carving on the back was born.

The colors in this opal are so hard to capture, it’s so firey and has so much orange to it, but in photos it looks a little dull…guess you really need to see it in person to feel the full effect of it’s magic 🤓

BONUS SPOTLIGHT on the Lyra Bands which felt like the perfect multicolor accompaniment to the opal

This is one of my early designs and I will always and forever love it. Both timelessly classic and a statement maker, she’ll chase your blues away
