Happy Mental Health Awareness month!💜
With chronic illness (and life in general) often comes anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. It's 2024 and there shouldn't be a stigma with mental health. I have lived with social anxiety and procedural anxiety for years, and depression since my elementary school days. In addition to lots of therapy and psychologists, I've found a good balance between meds and lifestyle changes. If you've been feeling a bit funky in the mental department, I highly suggest seeking a professionals help. Life is hard but there are people out there dedicated to helping us help ourselves.

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend. I went out of town Friday to the Salvador Dali Museum 👨‍🎨 in St Petersburg (def recommend) Then I did boring home stuff like laundry, while my husband mowed the lawn. 🌱
Did you know that post transplant, gardening 🌸🌺🌷🌹 is a big no from most transplant teams? There is a high risk that the dirt has spores 🍄 you may inhale and could lead to respiratory complications. 🫁 So I stay away from landscaping and such. I've considered a hydroponics garden as a loophole to the dirt situation. Has anyone tried that?

Happy World Book Day!

For those of you who don't know, I wrote a book about my transplant journey. It's a short read but goes on to give very personal details from the toughest moments I experienced. I wrote it to give hope and to show those waiting for a transplant a very honest review of what to expect from such a grand surgery. It's called 54 Minutes (the time I was on the waitlist) and its available on Amazon, free on Kindle Unlimited, or you can get a signed copy through my Etsy shop, shophappyyams.com.
💜Also, here are 2 other books about transplant written by a kidney transplant surgeon and a director of lung transplant, recommended to me by my own transplant director.
💚Fun fact: The cover of my book is my actual Xray🩻 when I was on ECMO and the back cover is my Xray about 2 years after my transplant.
