Owner of the store is Cheryl Holub Corns The owner of Hunky Dory, Cheryl Holub Corns, grew up on a traditional, midwestern family farm, surrounded by old people (my ancestors) and houses full of “old stuff.” She loved her childhood, and still loves old people and old stuff. But vintage items bring delightful stories and mem

ories to a space. No assembly instructions with vintage items. Just the opportunity to continue the story of these pieces within your own space. Cheryl has dedicated her life to advocating for senior and special needs animals and addressing the global homeless pet crisis. Cheryl implements Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) promotional effort programs in local communities in Mahaska County in her home state of Iowa, in the United States, and where she spent over a decade abroad in Spain. Her (501(c)(3) organization covers the overall costs of her TNR programs, which includes but is not limited to, spaying/neutering homeless cat populations in both areas, socializing, nursing, and making kittens found in local communities adoptable, and covering costs of fostering stray cats and dogs. Cheryl also operates a senior and special needs animal hospice for over 3 decades in her own home. In 2024, Cheryl spayed and neutered 211 cats in Mahaska County alone. Cheryl firmly believes that the animal welfare of our community is not solely an animal issue. Rather, it is first and foremost, a human issue. Proceeds from her vintage store go towards funding her (501(c)(3), Rescue Me International Animal Foundation.

Been a bit quiet lately, trying to balance 999 things and fight off severe sleep deprivation.

All is well and we have some lovely and adorable additions to share.

The first is an amazing set of Mikasa Ultrastone Country Blue dishes.
A rare treat to find this many pieces together.
A gorgeous shade of blue and sturdy.
Dishwasher, microwave safe for the win 💙🏆

The second is the cutest set of bears 🐻
These are collectible and affordable to gift to a special little person for Christmas.

Happy Thursday ☀️

I’ve decided to not open today 🫠🤪😂

Rocco’s on his way to Chicago via Amtrak to collect his student visa to return to Spain 🇪🇸

My special kiddo Jayson hasn’t slept in 2 days, which means I haven’t slept in 2 days 🫩😵‍💫

And I was up from 2am - 6am fighting a 🦇 😩

So far bat 1 : Cheryl 0

I will not accept defeat so we battle on 🧹🏸

Don’t worry! I grew up in an old farmhouse and have dueled with many a bat.
I’m also well versed in animal rescue and know the laws and regulations regarding bats.

AND… 🤪😂😂😂
The kids and I are preparing for a glorious estate sale in the driveway at my house.

So, long story short.
No open store hours today.
The bat and I need to pace ourselves and prepare for night 2 of our epic battle 👑🏆
