Lucky B Brand

Lucky B Brand Leather making & homestead living. It’s timeless, durable, and honest — much like the life we’re building together. It’s our story.

Lucky B Brand is our journey of building tradition, chasing the ranch dream & making our own luck — one stitch, one day at a time. Welcome to Lucky B Brand

Lucky B Brand began with a simple idea: build a life rooted in hard work, craftsmanship, and the wide-open spirit of the West. What started as a love for leather has grown into a way of life for us — blending tradition, creativity, and the le

ssons we learn every day from our horses, our home, and the land we’re working to shape into a future ranch.

For us, leather isn’t just a material. Each cut, stitch, and finish is done with care, designed to serve a purpose and to last through the wear of everyday life. From tack to essentials, our goods are made to be lived in, worked hard, and passed down.

But Lucky B Brand is more than products. Days spent training horses, caring for our dogs, cats, and chickens, and dreaming of the ranch we’ll build one day have shaped not only who we are, but how we work. This life teaches patience, resilience, and respect for heritage — values we carry into everything we create.

Our motto, “Make your own luck,” is more than words. It’s a reminder that the best things are built with your own two hands, through grit, determination, and a belief in the work you do.

We’re proud to share a piece of our journey with you — leather goods crafted with the same heart and honesty that go into our life today, and the ranch we’re building for tomorrow.

If you haven’t heard the story of Indy, it’s a good one. Truly the surprise of a lifetime, some may even call it lucky🍀

Let me take you back to 2024. After settling into our home in Otis Orchards,I set out looking for a horse project I could haul with me and Annie in the summer. That search led me to May, a dun mare some of you may remember seeing before. The minute we saw her, we knew her health and living conditions weren’t where they should’ve been, and we decided she needed to come home with us.

Little did we know, Lady May had a surprise waiting for us.

Not even a month later, she had gained a ton of weight, her belly kept getting bigger, and her teats started to swell and wax. If you’re a horse person, you know exactly what that means… a baby was on the way.

A few days later, our surprise filly arrived — tiny, skinny, but healthy as could be.🤎

It felt a little serendipitous too. At the time, I was working at 509, and she was born on May 9th, 2024. Indy was meant to be from the very beginning.
Fast forward through the last couple years of tracking down May’s previous owners and finding the original breeder, and I’m so excited to finally say that Indy officially has her registered papers.

None of it would’ve been possible without the gracious help from the people who loved and cared for May before she found her way to us.

Needless to say, Indy is incredibly special to us. She has been the surprise of a lifetime, and we’re so excited to officially make her a part of the Lucky B herd.🐴✨️

A little new, a little news, and something we’ve been so excited to share 🤎

Not only are we launching new designs, but we’re also welcoming a new member to the team!

You might already know her as one of our biggest supporters—my mom, Mandi—but now she’s stepping into a new role alongside us. Please help us welcome her to the Lucky B brand as our dedicated purse maker.

Behind the scenes, she and I have been working together to bring some Lucky B signature designs to life, and we cannot wait for you to see them. These pieces will be available online and at our upcoming pop-ups—and trust us, they’re worth the wait.

Mandi has been creating with her hands for years—from sewing quilts, to painting, to refurbishing furniture, just to name a few. She’s one of those people who’s good at just about anything she touches, and having her creating alongside me makes this next chapter of Lucky B even more special.

Be sure to give her a warm welcome and show her some love 🤎

Modern homestead… say what?!

We were recently asked why—and how—we consider our place a homestead. And it made me realize we haven’t shared enough about what we’re actually building.

Right now, our property is small—just over an acre. By modern standards (and especially compared to what homesteading originally looked like), it’s nowhere near what most people picture.

But the truth is, a homestead isn’t defined by acreage—it’s defined by self-sufficiency.

It’s a place where you grow, harvest, and preserve your own food. And that’s exactly what we’ve been building here—on purpose, with intention. Working with our land for sustainability and self-sufficiency for years to come.

We have a mix of animals—cats, dogs, chickens, and horses—and while it might look like a bit of a funny farm from the outside, each one plays a role in the system.

🐈 The cats keep mice and birds in check.
🐕 The dogs protect the property and other animals.
🐓 The chickens manage bugs and flies, turn over our compost, and provide eggs daily.
🐴 And the horses give us some of the best grass-based fertilizer for our garden.

It’s all connected on purpose. Each piece supports the next, creating a system that works together instead of separately.

All of this helps us grow our own food, and care for our land. The goal is to build something that blends homestead practices, modern tools, and good old-fashioned hard work.

It may not look like the traditional version of a homestead, but it’s ours. And it’s working.

We’re just getting started sharing more of this journey—what would you want to see more of?

This last weekend I pulled my boots out to go ride and had one of those moments…

I realized I had been riding with the same pair of spur straps since 2009!

They were actually the first real leather project I ever made on my own. Back in high school, I was working for a local horse trainer, and his wife did leatherwork. I remember picking out everything—the template, the stamps, the conchos—figuring out exactly what I wanted them to look like.

She walked me through the process step by step, and within about a week, I had a finished pair of spur straps that I made myself.
And somehow…they’ve been on my riding boots ever since.

Through all the miles, the rides, the seasons—they’ve held up. Looking at them now, they’re worn in, softened, and show their age—but they still work just as good as the first day I put them on my boots.
It’s funny looking back now, because at the time it was just a project. Something new to try. I had no idea it would turn into something I’d still be using all these years later—or that it would play a part in what Lucky B is today.

It’s a good reminder that quality leather isn’t just about how it looks the day you make it. It’s about how it holds up over time, how it breaks in, and how it becomes part of your story.

Good leather ages better than most of us. 🤠

We’ve been working with James at Sound Horseshoeing Services since moving our horses to our homestead in 2024, and we truly can’t say enough good things.

He has completely transformed Annie’s feet—from small, oval-shaped, over-shod feet to a strong, natural, balanced shape. She is up a half size from last year! The difference has been incredible to watch.

James brings a wealth of knowledge to every visit—from hoof care to his horsemanship. James supports each horse individually. You can tell he genuinely cares about the long-term health and soundness of the horse, not just the job in front of him.

“Thank you” doesn’t even begin to cover it. We’re beyond grateful to have him in our corner.
