Happy World Sea Turtle Day from National Save the Sea Turtle Foundation! 🐢🌎

Today highlights the plight of all seven sea turtle species: green, loggerhead, Kemp’s ridley, olive ridley, hawksbill, flatback, and leatherback. Primary dangers include plastic pollution (often mistaken for jellyfish), bycatch in fishing gear, and habitat destruction. Individuals can participate by reducing plastic use, supporting conservation organizations, joining beach cleanups, and keeping beaches clean, dark and flat.

The birds went extinct on the Honshu main island in the 1970s, threatened by overhunting and environmental degradation.
