Fabrics'n Lace

Fabrics'n Lace Fabric and lace supplies sold at www.fabricsnlace.etsy.com. I purchase fabric remnants from designers and apparel production mills.

My fabrics come directly from the Los Angeles Fashion District, one of the largest fashion and fabric marts in the USA, where fabric choice is abundant. Some of these fabrics are one-time only finds and others may be repeatable. I try to be very selective in my choices. You most likely will not see these fabrics in your local fabric store, but you might see them as ready to wear apparel at retail.

Here's a post on how to make a crinoline skirt or dress from EHOW.com that might interest you. It has a photo tutorial along with step by step description.

If I'm extending a slip hem with a crinoline ruffle, I personally prefer to add a soft silk tulle layer between my skin and the stiff crinoline layers, so it doesn't scratch or create an itch on my legs. Another option I consider is sewing the crinoline layers on top of the slip mid way down the slip length.

What are your thoughts?

To give your skirts and dresses some "Rockabilly" dimension, sew a tulle crinoline using a slip and tulle to wear underneath.
