To provide insight into the pricing of handmade items, I would like to share an example of the material costs for the sweater I am currently working on. Please note that this calculation does not include shipping costs for the materials. My sweaters are typically priced between $75-100, depending on the size. As a result, if I charge $75-80 for a medium/large sweater, the majority of that cost is to reimburse me for the materials I purchased. Consequently, my earnings for my time and talent are less than $30 per garment.

The image below is from a Mary Maxim catalog, a supplier of my crochet blanket and sweater kits, which include yarn and patterns from the designer. The creation of a sweater typically requires at least 2 weeks of work, depending on my health and ability to crochet on a given day. I strive to work on my projects daily, but sometimes that is not feasible. Therefore, when I say 2 weeks, I mean a total of 2 weeks of actual work on the project.

This pricing structure also applies to my blankets, which are typically priced at $0.01 per stitch, with a minimum of 35,000 stitches per blanket, depending on the size.

I typically require a non-refundable deposit of 50% on all orders to cover upfront costs incurred by me for materials.

I am just trying to remain transparent in my pricing structure. Thank you for supporting my business.
