Jewelry History Corner! 💍 Introducing... La Peregrina Pearl. 💎 Spanish for "the Wanderer", La Peregrina was the largest pearl ever found when it was discovered in the 16th century (55.95 carats!) It was worn by Spanish and French queens, British aristocrats, and Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor. See pics to view La Peregrina depicted in art. La Peregrina remains one of the largest perfectly symmetrical pear-shaped pearls in the world. In December 2011, the pearl sold for a record price of more than $11 million. It is now in a private collection.
