⚠️ We’re not going to let you leave the store with an item of clothing that is business in front and party in the back (like these Bermuda shorts on Kat). 🤣

The thing to realize here is there is NOTHING wrong with Kat’s body, but these shorts in this brand just don’t build for it. Did we find clothes that fit her perfectly? Yeah, we did! But this is your friendly reminder that brands build for specific body types and it’s our job to know that so you don’t leave the store feeling frustrated and overwhelmed. Your body is not the problem, and we love educating you on what styles and brands are best on YOU.

You pick the time and date, and we’ll pick the clothes. We can’t wait to show you how FUN shopping can be! 🫶

✨ Client Spotlight: Jessica ✨

Jessica came to us ready to shake up her wardrobe—and we did exactly that.

First, she discovered her Summer color season. Then, we defined her clothing personality: Natural Classic. With that foundation, we took on her personal-shopping mission: standout looks for weddings in New York and Palm Springs, including a cocktail dress and jumpsuits that pushed beyond her usual choices.

In her words:

“Working with Magan and Dutch was a transformative experience. I left each session - first color analysis, then style class, and then my personal shopping appointment - feeling more confident and beautiful than I ever have in my life. Knowing my color season and style has made shopping for myself so much easier. And they proved to me that I can wear cuts and styles that I never would have dreamed of before! I feel polished, put together, beautiful, and 100% myself. This was by far the best investment I’ve made in myself in years.

Thank you so much for the transformative experience!”

Color analysis revealed the shades that complement her best. Style class put words to her instincts. Personal shopping showed her just how much more she could wear.

We work with men and women of every size, shape, and stage of life. If your clothes aren’t making you feel incredible, let’s change that.

Come see yourself differently. ✨

So, here’s the thing -

Just because it’s a size on the tag…doesn’t mean it’s the right size or shape or fit for you!

Yes, “oversized” is continuing to be a thing but good-nes y’all. This is ridiculous. This isn’t oversized... this is “swamping size” or “hiding from the world sized”. Just sayin.

The goal is to buy clothes that fit perfectly and flatter your body type. But the reality is without being educated on brands and their construction and sizing means you’re buying clothes that look unflattering or ill-fitting on YOUR body.
This is where having a stylist comes in.
It’s OUR job to know how brands not only fit but how they’ll fit YOUR specific body.

And since you’re managing your time and energy and money it’s important that if you’re going to put clothes on, they’re perfect for you...every time.

Let us help!

A little peek inside color ratings during a color analysis appointment! 🌈🪄❇️

I (Magan) am your certified color analyst, but Dutch is always in the room to help and take notes for me. (And vice versa when he is doing a wardrobe edit — I’m his note taker then. 📝🤝)

Here we try on a variety of gorgeous Autumn greens, from dark olive to lime, and discuss how these colors pop and complement the skin. I share my favorites and consider how fun a swimsuit collection in some of these shades would be.

Do you have a personal favorite? Would you choose the vibrant greens 🍋‍🟩 over the dark olive? 🫒

Sometimes the mirror has been lying to you (for years).

Sometimes you need the right fit, the right proportions, the right pieces, and someone beside you saying, “No, look again. See how beautiful you are. Just as you are.”

On our personal shopping trip with Brooke, she was looking for a wardrobe refresh, but she also had several fun upcoming trips to plan for (Vegas). She walked out in this black catsuit and cropped denim jacket and Dutch had a MOMENT with Brooke.

This isn’t a trendy outfit. It’s not overly dramatic either.

This is a really flattering fit that honors her body and she looks like a statuesque Wonder Woman.

Dutch told her the truth: she looked like a smoke show!

We don’t want you to dress for the body you used to have, the body you think you should have, or the body you’ve been told to hide.

We want you to see (and love) the body you have now. We don’t want you standing in a fitting room blaming your hips, your stomach, your arms, your bust, your height, or your size.

The right clothes don’t fix your body.

They show that your body was never the problem.

➡ Bad fit is the problem.
➡ Ill-proportioned outfits are the problem.
➡ Clothes designed for someone else’s shape are the problem.
➡ Wearing clothes that don’t feel like YOU are the problem.

If you’re ready to experience this for yourself, come work with us. We won’t pick clothes just for the sake of putting them on your body and stroking your ego. We choose clothes that flatter your figure and honor your personality (and budget). We can’t wait to help!

Last fall, Meredith came in for Color Analysis. She was referred to us by a friend and we had so much fun listening and learning about how she’d been working on her health.

A few weeks ago, she reached back out to ask us to work with her husband, Grant; she said, “It’s a total surprise. He’s worked hard and has the possible opportunity for a VP role and so I wanted him to feel good as he steps into this new chapter so color and style for sure.”

We booked his color analysis and their joint style analysis for a future date. (It wasn’t until just before they walked into our studio that Grant learned what surprise was in store for him!)
We have loved every second of working with Grant and Meredith together.

Because these experiences aren’t only about clothes.
They’re both in the process of big changes, personally and professionally, and they’re excited to work through all of this together.

So many of our clients tell us, “My partner would never do this,” or “I wish they cared more,” and we understand that feeling. When one person is learning, changing, investing in themselves, and becoming more confident, it can feel lonely if their partner stays completely outside of that process.

Style affects how we shop, how we see ourselves, how we feel walking into a room. It’s a part of how we share with the world a little piece of ourselves.

We know this is gonna ruffle some feathers…but…let’s be real.

If the fashion industry couldn’t convince you that something is “in”, or maybe even more importantly “out”, you’d have no incentive to change your wardrobe. We hear it all the time that “x” clothing item is out and we shouldn’t be wearing it. Says who?! Our favorite example of that is skinny jeans. If you’re petite and muscular, skinny jeans are the best way to define your legs, leg length and to make you look taller. That’s HONORING YOUR BODY with your clothes. Not following what someone tells you is in or out. Stop listening to that and go find you a proper stylist.

Just sayin’….

People often ask what makes us different.

The truth is, our journey started long before House of Colour Pflugerville.

Before becoming a stylist, Magan spent over a decade as a professional photographer. Through her lens, she learned how color and light can completely transform the way a person is seen…and how to help people feel beautiful while doing it. She developed an eye for the details most people miss and learned how to help people feel comfortable in front of the camera and, often, a little more at home with themselves.

But her eye for structure started even before photography. Magan has a degree in Interior Architecture, and while the structure and fit of clothing may not directly correlate to architecture, the foundation of seeing proportion, balance, line, scale, and harmony began there. Architecture trained her to notice how individual elements relate to the whole. Photography taught her how those elements are seen on a person. Styling brought all of it together.

My path was different.

After serving in the Army as a Soldier for over a decade and being medically retired, I spent the 20+ as an Army civilian working in clothing design and development, where fit, function, construction, and garment performance were not just concepts. They were requirements.

I learned how clothing is built, why certain cuts work, and how design choices impact the way a garment fits, moves, and performs on the body. Ultimately, that work was about helping the wearer feel equipped, capable, and ready to do their job.

But I think our greatest education didn’t just come from our past careers.

It came from our own transformations.

Both of us have experienced significant body changes through weight loss. We know what it is like to look in the mirror and see a different body. We know what it is like to see a skewed version of ourselves and struggle to recognize what is actually there. We know the frustration of clothes that don’t fit, the uncertainty of figuring out what works, and the challenge of rebuilding trust with your own reflection.

Behind the scenes… were we trying on random clothes or doing market research to learn which brands work best?

We research brands, fits, and quality for our clients. If we don’t know this, how could we be expected to teach you? Here’s more about why these trips matter so much to Dutch and me:

👚 We learn how different brands actually fit real bodies.
🧢 Sizing varies dramatically between brands, even when the tag says the same size.
👗 We identify which cuts, rises, lengths, and silhouettes consistently work best for different body types.
👖We discover hidden gems clients might otherwise overlook.
👕 Our job isn’t to recommend what works best for US; it’s to know what works best for YOU.
👔 We compare quality and construction firsthand.
👙We build a mental database of what works for different body shapes.
🥻We stay current on trends without blindly following them.
🩱We can make more accurate shopping recommendations for clients.
👚We save clients time, money, and fitting-room frustration.
👗 We test whether a brand’s marketing matches reality.
🧥We gain confidence recommending pieces because we’ve actually worn and evaluated them.

Behind every confident recommendation is a lot of hands-on research. We spend time learning which brands are worth the investment, which fits flatter different body shapes, and which pieces live up to their promise. It’s all part of helping our clients shop with confidence and dress with intention.

Ready to test our expertise? DM us — we would love to work with you!
