Way to go Officer Revere! Keep up the great work!
Just another spot light!
On May 1st, Communications Officer Elizabeth Revere answered a 911 call in reference to a patient choking and not breathing. After Officer Revere obtained the appropriate location of the emergency and callback information (in the event the 911 call disconnected), she immediately began Dispatch Life Support with CPR instructions which were provided to the caller in the attempt to provide a better chance of survival for the patient. Officer Revere provided the CPR instructions for 8 minutes until emergency personnel arrived on scene. After units arrived on scene they obtained a pulse back on the patient who was then transported to a nearby hospital.
This process of EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) allows our Communications Division to provide immediate pre-arrival instructions in an attempt to provide the patients with the best possible outcome while they await emergency response units.
All of our Communications Officers are highly trained by APCO International and Priority Dispatch Corp.
Communications Officer Revere’s quick actions in providing CPR instructions prior to emergency units arriving on scene, gave the caller the instructions needed to assist the patient during this emergency situation.
Officer Revere has earned a Leaf on our “EMD Tree of Life” in which CPR instructions were given by a Comms Officer and a pulse was restored.
The “EMD Tree of Life” will also have leaves for Communications Officers that have given a child birth instructions that assists in the delivery of a baby.
As of May 2nd, the patient was still receiving medical care at a facility.
