This month, we’re celebrating the paraoptometric staff who keep our practice running every single day. From taking histories and prepping patients, to answering questions, fitting glasses, and making sure every visit runs smoothly, our paraoptometrics are the backbone of the care we provide.

Their skill, patience, and dedication don’t always make headlines, but they make a real difference in every patient’s experience. Behind every successful exam and every satisfied patient, there’s a paraoptometric who helped make it happen.

Sporting his new App Eyewear eyeglasses, SeeMore set off to explore. He noticed tracks in the mud left by raccoons, deer, and one very wiggly salamander. He counted seven purple flowers beside the trail. He watched a woodpecker tap a perfect rhythm into a hollow tree. Every step felt like unwrapping a present.

By afternoon, SeeMore reached a steep path he had never dared to climb before. The sign at the bottom said, “Tall Peak Trail.” Before glasses, the path looked like a gray ribbon disappearing into a green cloud. Now he could see each root, each stone, each safe place for his paws.

Up he climbed, past blueberry bushes, whispering spruce trees, and cliffs where swallows looped like ribbons in the wind. When SeeMore finally reached the top, the whole forest spread beneath him: rivers flashing silver, treetops rolling like waves, and the cedar tree clinic standing small and dear in the distance.

SeeMore lifted his face to the wide blue sky. His heart felt as big as the mountain. Then he began to sing, and his happy voice floated down through the forest.

“Dr. Chris Hansen, he is the best eye doctor in the world!”

And from that day on, SeeMore never missed a butterfly, a berry, or a sunrise. Whenever his glasses slipped down his nose, he pushed them up proudly and remembered the day the forest came into focus.
