Since you all loved the Rhode Island venue post so much, it felt only fair to give Massachusetts its turn. 🤍

This list is definitely a little shorter, Rhode Island is our home base and where we spend most of our wedding weekends, but there are some Massachusetts venues I’ve really loved working at for completely different reasons.

From Cape Cod and coastal properties to gardens, private estates, and my two personal Boston favorites, each one offers a really different experience.

And that’s always what I’m looking at when I think about venues — not just whether it’s pretty, but how it feels, how guests move through it, what it gives us from a design perspective, and what kind of wedding it naturally lends itself to.

No rankings. Just places I’d happily go back to. 🤍

And if you’re still venue hunting, that can be part of planning with us too. We can help narrow the options, think through the logistics, and find the space that actually fits the wedding you want to create.

After working at so many Rhode Island venues over the years, I’ve learned that the “right” one really depends on the experience you want to create.

Some are blank canvases. Some bring all the personality. Some feel private and tucked away. Others put you right in the middle of Newport.

So instead of ranking them, I’m sharing a few I love working at and what I think each one does especially well.

Your venue impacts so much more than the backdrop, it shapes the guest count, design, flow, logistics and overall feel of the day.

And if you’re still looking, venue sourcing can be part of the planning process with us too.

Wedding math is fun…said no one ever.

This table from our branding shoot seats eight people and comes in at just over $2,300…before delivery, setup, breakdown, taxes, service fees, or design fees.

I wanted to share the actual numbers because I know one of the biggest conversations in the wedding industry right now is around wanting more transparency and how else will you know unless someone tells you?!

From the outside, it can be really hard to understand why things cost what they do when all you’re seeing is the finished result.

Most of these choices sound completely reasonable individually.

A $3.25 napkin.
A $4.50 plate.
A $10 placemat.
A $34 chair (this one was a tough pill to swallow, but look how gorgeous they are?!)

Where it adds up fast is that weddings are essentially the art of multiplying seemingly harmless numbers by an average of 150.

Then add the linen, the florals, the candlelight, the paper goods, the glassware, the flatware… suddenly one table becomes a much bigger number than most people expect.

So in the spirit of shedding a little more light on it, I wanted to break this one down.

Not because every wedding table needs to cost this much and not because good design means upgrading every single detail (which admittedly we did here).

But because understanding where the money actually goes makes it so much easier to make thoughtful decisions about where to simplify, where to splurge, and what will make the biggest impact overall.

A huge part of our job is helping clients prioritize so the budget is working hard in the places that matter most.

Because a beautiful wedding isn’t about spending the most.

It’s about spending with intention.

Deep into day-of designs for our fall weddings and loving all the warm tones on the horizon 🧡 It has me thinking back to this fall-infused design at Glen Manor House.

This menu is a forever fav - layered stained wood with creamy cardstock menu featuring a sketch of the venue, all wrapped in twine with a delicate bow.

If you’ve ever looked at our work and thought, “Wait… what exactly does Something Borrowed do?”.. this one’s for you. 🤍

At the core of everything we do is event branding: creating the visual identity of your wedding and carrying it through the stationery, signage, paper, custom builds, and little details your guests experience throughout the day.

From there, you can add event design, where we step into the bigger picture: florals, rentals, linens, lighting, layout, color, texture, and all of the visual decisions that make the entire wedding feel cohesive.

And if you want us to go beyond the aesthetics, there’s event planning…taking over the vendors, timelines, budget, logistics, transportation, catering, entertainment, and all of the moving pieces happening behind the scenes.

Sometimes we’re with you from the very beginning. Sometimes you’ve already done a lot and need us to come in later. That flexibility is intentional.

Because I don’t think every couple needs the exact same package or the exact same amount of help. I think you should be able to hand over the parts of this process that are taking up the most space in your brain and know they’re being looked at as part of one bigger picture.

And when you come to us with, “Okay, but can you make this?”

The answer is very often yes. We’ll design it, build it or source it, test it, troubleshoot it, transport it, set it up, touch it up then haul it all away.

That’s really the whole idea behind Something Borrowed: fewer things for you to manage, fewer decisions living in your head, and one team thinking about how all of it connects.

Your job is simply to show up and get married. đź’Ť

There’s something about a wedding that is almost entirely neutral but still has so much warmth. 🤍

For Ariana & Ryan, we layered ivory, ch*****ne, taupe and the softest blush with delicate typography, romantic florals and subtle Newport-inspired details. The result felt light, elegant and timeless without ever feeling too formal or overly traditional.

And I will forever love when the invitation suite gives us the foundation to carry the same feeling through every little piece of the wedding day.

All the shades of pink. đź’—

From the palest blush to bright fuchsia and deep raspberry, pink was the thread that carried through the entire room.

The custom crest, ribbon-tied menus, pink glassware, photo table numbers… every piece had its own moment without everything needing to match perfectly.

Proof that pink can still have so much depth. 🎀

One year since this colorful, joy-filled day!

This wedding will always have an extra special place in my heart because I had the chance to work so closely with both the bride and her mom throughout the process. I really love that mother-daughter dynamic - getting to know them both, hearing what mattered to each of them, and watching all of those little decisions come together into something that felt so them.

And as a mom myself, there’s something about watching a mother help bring her daughter’s wedding day to life that just gets me. 🥹

Happy one year, Emily & Greg!!
