Crocheting hats for the homeless to honor our granddaughter Gia who was born sleeping at 37 weeks. Maybe you want to make these quick warm hats for people in your town. And yes, we always accept donated yarn. Here is the easy pattern:
WINTER HAT
Approximately 2 oz of worsted weight yarn in dark color
Approximately 2 oz of worsted weight yarn in light color
Size K hook
Fits adult size head
NOTE: Use 2 strands of yarn though out.
Rnd 1: Ch 2, work 8 sc in second ch from hook.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in ea sc, join with sl st to top of ch 3.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in ea dc around, join with sl st to frist sc.
Rnd 4: Ch 3, *2 dc in next sc, dc in next sc, rep around, dc in last sc, join with sl st to top of ch 3.
Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in ea dc around, join.
Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in ea sc around, join.
Rnds 7-10: Rep rounds 5 & 6.
Rnds 11-16 (or to desired fit): Ch 1, sc in ea st around, join each round with a sl st to first sc.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
